I tried the shiatsu massager that you hold on your neck and it was much too painful, so I thought I'd try this instead. The heat does not get too hot on the auto mode but enough to know it's there. The vibration in very strong. I first used it sitting up and i felt it vibrate my entire jaw and head. I had to readjust several times. The next few times I laid down and though the vibrations are still strong they are not as mind rattling as before. The traction part takes time finding the correct position on the pillow to allow it to work. It inflates under your neck and can be a little too hard on the neck for too long a period for me. I do feel like it helps relax the muscles to a degree but find my tens unit is better at relieving the tightness and stress. I will continue to use this pillow along with my tens unit. And I feel for me it is a better option than the shiatsu massagers I've tried but I don't feel like I'm getting an actual massage, no kneading just vibrations. The pillow is soft when not in the traction mode, the fabric is comfortable and I do like that it is small and portable.

Works great! I saw a cheaper version of this pillow and it wasn't working for me...I have 2 discs in my neck that have deteriorated and constantly struggle with tightness and pain in my neck & shoulders. Relief! I needed quick relief. I have occipital compression/neuralgia complicated by TMJ and migraines. The pain recently evolved and nothing is working.
